Eaton's Goes To War

Part of TO Canada With Love, the City of Toronto's year-long program of celebrations for Canada 150,the “Eaton’s Goes to War” exhibition is being featured at Mackenzie House in Toronto from September 21, 2017 through December 31, 2017. During the First World War, 3,327 Eaton's employees enlisted to fight. Each time one of them was shipped overseas, a photo was displayed in the Toronto store. This exhibition features some of the 2,000 of these portraits that survived and provides visitors the opportunity to learn about the lives of the people in them.

Our lead graphic designer, Niina Gates-Kass worked closely with MacKenzie House curators and staff to develop a series of graphic displays including a 30-foot wide mural that takes the visitor to MacKenzie House back to the time of the First World War and into the stories of the over 2,000 men who volunteered to go to war.
