The Royal Canadian Regiment Museum
In 2013, Blue Rhino Design was engaged by The Royal Canadian Regiment Museum to develop two new galleries plus an immersive experience (an Afghanistan Observation Post) as part of a major expansion project. In 2014, to continue the museum’s vision, the Blue Rhino Design team created a mobile-friendly website and branding for the museum.
In collaboration with the museum’s curator, Blue Rhino Design developed an Interpretive Content and Experience Plan for the re-creation of an Afghanistan Observation Post; an Infantry Gallery presenting the history of the Regiment (1883 to present); and a gallery on the history of the 4RCR (reserve force battalion), Perpetuated Units and Militia in southwestern Ontario from 1812 to today.
To tell these stories, we wove together artifacts, military history and personal accounts using a range of design techniques including standard display cases, a diorama, digital interactives, and an animated video in the style of Ken Burns.
